Box Corer 2500 cm²
Application:
The box corer's series is a marine geological sampling tool for soft sediment in lakes or oceans. It is deployed from a research vessel with a deep sea wire and suitable for any water depth. It is designed for a minimum of disturbance of the sediment surface by bow wave effects which is important for quantitative investigations of the benthos micro- to macro fauna, geochemical processes, sampling of bottom water or sedimentology. The box corer frame is manufactured from 100 x 100 x 6 mm square AISI 316 steel tube and electro polished. Our box corer 2500 cm², 50 cm penetration, is also available with 60 cm penetration.
Dimensions:
• Height - loaded position : 255 cm.
• Height - released position : 420 cm.
• Bottom frame - released position) : 178 x 178 cm.
• Bottom frame - loaded position) : 178 x 220 cm.
• Penetration depth : 50 cm.
• Maximum weight : 1450 kg with 8 additional lead weights.
• Finish : Electro polish.
• Weight : 1050 kg.
Camera option:
For a max. depth of 500 m it is possible adding our camera and light option. Kindly refer our product camera and lights (requires a bracket).
Sample tube standard (Image 5):
• Sample tube, sample area 2500 cm².
• Standard sample tube AISI 316 stainless steel with integrated handles.
• L x W x H: 700 x 575 x 620 mm.
• Weight: 106 kg.
• The sample tubes need a small carriage to be operational due to the high weight.
Sample tube, with removable front (Image 6):
• Sample tube, sample area 2500 cm².
• Standard sample tube AISI 316 stainless steel with integrated handles,
• 400 x 100 mm, approx. L x W x H: 700 x 575 x 620 mm.
• Weight: 106 kg.
• The sample tubes need a small carriage to be operational due to the high weight.
Hydraulic carriage - Optional (Image 7):
Small transport carriage for transporting of the sample tubes.
The carriage is a hydraulic model made with an AISI 316 stainless steel cover. Once the core sample is ready to get replaced, the inner shovel is mounted, and the outer shovel is removed, this make room for the carriage to be deployed and the sample tube extracted from the corer. Once the carriage is placed underneath the box corer, a strap is placed around the sample tube and tightened, then the carriage can be removed from the box corer with it's sample.
Outer shovel (Image 8):
• Outer shovel, made of AISI 316 stainless steel, 8 mm and 15 mm.
• After deployment of the box corer, the inner shovel is mounted, and the outer shovel is removed.
• L x W x H : 72 cm x 61 cm x 43 cm.
• Weight: 50 kg.
Inner shovel (Image 9):
The inner shovel for the 2500 cm² box corer is manufactured from 316 stainless steel.
After deployment of the box corer, the inner shovel is mounted, and the outer shovel is removed.
Lead weight 50 kg (Image 10):
Lead weight, 50 kg made of stainless steel case with casted lead inside, the case has integrated handles made from 8 mm AISI 316 stainless steel. As standard, the box corer is delivered with 4 lead weights, the overall maximum of weights is 12 (8 additional weights + the 4 that is delivered on the standard equipment) which give the entire corer a maximum weight of 1450 kg.
