The air quality meter from PCE Instruments is a true all-rounder when it comes to indoor air quality assessment. The air quality measuring device quickly and accurately determines several environmental parameters that are of a crucial importance for health and well-being. The air quality measuring device enables effective and uncomplicated measurement of volatile organic compounds (TVOC), fine dust (PM2.5 / PM10), temperature, formaldehyde (HCHO) and relative humidity. The display also has a date display with time specification.
The room air contaminated by volatile organic compounds can, among other things, lead to headaches, tiredness or respiratory irritation. According to one study, people in Europe spend about 90% of their time indoors. In such case, between 10 and 20 cubic meters of air per person are inhaled, which corresponds to an air mass of 12 to 24 kg, considerably more than a daily consumption of food and liquid. Air quality is therefore a very important factor in terms of health and well-being.
The quality of indoor air should therefore be checked regularly. This is particularly convenient with the color rating scale of the air quality meter from PCE Instruments. The colored scale serves as an indicator which simplifies the user's orientation and the classification of the displayed measured values: as soon as a limit value is exceeded, this is shown in color on the display. In addition, if desired, in case of a potential danger, the air quality meter also makes an acoustic signal. This function is useful, for example, when measuring the pollutant substances in the indoor air. The air quality meter form PCE Instruments, for example, makes it possible to effectively detect the fine dust load. Here, a distinction is made between fine dust particles with a maximum diameter of up to 10 μm (PM10) and fine dust particles with a diameter of up to 2.5 μm (PM2.5). In addition, the air quality meter precisely indicates the formaldehyde concentration in the room air. For the measurement of volatile organic compounds (TVOD), the fine dust meter has a measuring range of 0 to 9.99 mg / m³. The manufacturer has also equipped the air quality meter with a large memory for 5000 measuring groups, so that the determined values could also be retrieved later. In addition, the air quality meter provides a reliable information about the temperature (-20° C to +70° C) and humidity (0 to 100% RH). The measured values are updated on the display every second.
The easy-to-read display of the air quality gauge shows the measured values alternately. The user also has the opportunity to use the device for a while completely self-sufficient, without any connection to a power source. After five hours of continuous operation, the air quality meter must be recharged via the batteries. It takes two hours for the battery of the device to be fully charged again. In order to provide a continuous measurement of the environmental conditions, the manufacturer has equipped the air quality meter with a USB port. In this way, the user can connect the fine dust meter with a power source and thus, charge it or operate via the mains. If required, the air quality meter can also be put into an automatic sleep mode. The PM2.5; PM10 and CO2 sensors then need a warm-up time of about 5 seconds, the TVOC sensor – 40 seconds to provide accurate readings. Through a built-in noise sensor, the air quality meter turns on automatically when a noise activates the sensor in the device. If desired, this sensor can also be deactivated by the user.
The air quality measuring device from PCE Instruments is compact and, thus, flexible in use. It is therefore excellently suited to check and regularly control the quality of the room air in different indoor areas in the professional or private sector. Its diverse functions and the ability to register multiple environmental parameters make it an ideal instrument for factories, workplaces, schools or day care centers. It has been proven that by improving and optimizing the air quality and indoor climate it is possible to increase the performance and motivation of the employees in the workplace. Also, in a private sector, the air quality meter is preferred because of its easy handling and modern design.
